Teledyne e2v launches improved version of its advanced Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC)
Teledyne e2v, a leading provider of high-performance, high-reliability semiconductor solutions, has launched an improved version of its most advanced high-performance, low-noise Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) to date. The new 12-bit resolution device has improved performance at full frequency and eliminates non-harmonic spurs. This allows coders to achieve new levels of performance to meet the needs of mission-critical applications. Beta samples of the new EV12AS350 ADC are available now.
The latest generation of Teledyne e2v’s ADC features a sampling rate of 5.4GSps (Giga samples per second), input bandwidth of 4.8GHz, low latency (26 clock cycles) and low noise (-150dBm/Hz). It offers a high-resolution and highly dynamic range in a single component, with the ability to use a sampling mode across four ADC cores performing optimum conversions simultaneously to gain 6dB of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR).
To achieve this performance, the team at Teledyne e2v collaborated with Teledyne SP Devices to develop a custom algorithm to harmonise the four cores, boosting performance by 30 percent and eliminating undesirable spikes through error-correction IP called ADX4.
Nicolas Chantier, Director of Marketing at Teledyne e2v Semiconductors, said of the launch, “The team has really pushed the boundaries in developing this device, which we feel will set the tone for the industry. Our aim was to capitalise on our broad in-house knowledge and design expertise to develop a best-in-class ADC with the cleanest signal digitization possible and this improved version now offers signal purity.
