Cassidian has acquired SurveyCopter in order to increase the synergies within its light UAV segment (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle – UAV). Created in 1996, SurveyCopter is a French defence company based in France and Switzerland. Cassidian and SurveyCopter are partners since 2003.

- Aerospace cluster becomes a non profit organisation
About thirty companies met on wednesday April 13, 2011 for Aerospace cluster constitutive General meeting. In presence of Jean-Louis Gagnaire, Vice-president of the Rhône-Alpes Region and Jean-Paul Mauduy, President of the regional Chamber of Commerce, they decided to create the Aerospace Cluster Association. Unanimously, they approved the statutes, elected the board of directors and carried Mr François Bergez (Messier Bugatti) to the Presidency of Cluster.

During the last days of 2010, Corima Technologies (Loriol sur Drôme, Rhône-Alpes) has delivered to its customer Aircelle, Groupe Safran, the first large size mould produced in its new king sizes baths. - SKF Aerospace France to invest and innovate
SKF Aerospace France (Saint-Valier, Rhône-Alpes), supplier of fly-by-wire equipments, bearings, rods and struts for Airframe, invested 3 millions euros. The company has developed a new process to machine single-piece rods made of titanium and stainless steel. This innovative process is cost cutting technology and allows to improve mechanical properties of the rods. - Courbis take over Transformers
Transformers (Rhône-Alpes, France), an SME specialised in thermoforming, has been taken over by Courbis group, a company specialised in plastics transformation, together with 27 employees. The new entity, Courbis Themoformage, brings the group its two main know-hows : thermopression and a twin sheet thermoforming process which allows to realise precise and light hollow units in a single operation. - Adetests to join Emitech Group
Adetests, a laboratory of environmental tests located in Saint-Etienne (Rhône-Alpes, France) became part of Emitech group in Septembre 2010. - DUQUEINE Group launches DUQUEINE Mexico
Gilles DUQUEINE, President of the French DUQUEINE Group, a leading company in composite parts design and manufacture, has officially launched the creation of “Duqueine Group Mexico” and the construction of the composite factory in Mexico at Queretaro’s Aerospace Park on 25th September, 2010. Lisa Airplanes, a Rhône-Alpes young Aeronautic company, has obtained from local authorities the authorization to open an hydro-surface on the ‘Lac du Bourget’ for the continuation of the Akoya tests. Starting in opctober, this campaign aims to validate the parameters previously put on cencus during the ‘Bassin du carenes de Nantes’ (DCN) tests, using models on a scale of 1/3. Sunaero is specialized in Rapid Leak Detection, Rapid Sealant Removal and Rapid Curing of sealants, paints and composites for commercial and military aircraft. Sunaero has been proposing innovative technologies for more than 10 years. Infodream (SPC software editor) is going to participate to the CARAIBE project, led by Turbomeca. CARAIBE aims to develop magnesium alloys for the aerospace industry.
